Boards do not need another macro newsletter. They need a structured read of the specific markets, sectors and counterparties that affect a decision in front of them. We produce that read, signed by a named author, with sources you can re-trace.
When clients come to us
Usually before a capital allocation decision. A factory expansion in another EU market that depends on local demand assumptions. An EU subsidiary that needs a defensible cost-of-capital input for a board paper. A founder preparing to enter a market where the public data is thin and the private data is informal. The common thread is a board that wants research with a defensible audit trail, not a slide.
How we work
We define the question with the sponsor in week one, then build the analysis from primary sources where they exist and from named industry interviews where they do not. The output is short — usually fifteen to thirty pages — and structured so that the parts a board cares about can be read in fifteen minutes. The full source set is footnoted.
What we deliver
- Structured research memo with named author
- Sector sizing and competitor mapping
- Macro and FX context relevant to the decision
- Source register with interview log
- Scenario read for board discussion
- Optional in-person presentation to the board
Typical engagement
A research engagement runs four to eight weeks, depending on access to primary interviews. A senior research lead is the named author; one analyst supports. On the client side, the CFO or strategy director sponsors, with one or two operating leads available for context interviews. The board is briefed at completion.
Why CGLA
We sit close to operating businesses across three jurisdictions, which means our research is filtered through people who currently advise on transactions, not only desk research. We do not publish syndicated reports — every memo is built for one sponsor and one decision.
